Driven by Athlete Endurance

Dan Weiss bridges human stamina with the survival of Red Knots. This Team USA triathlete views his training as a tribute to these birds. Between 2026 and 2028, he will log 10,000+ cumulative swim, bike, and run miles, leading to a 2028 journey through key Red Knot migration stops.

Merging elite sports with nature advocacy, Dan highlights the Red Knots' plight. His project culminates in a 2028 trek along their flyway from Chile to the Canadian Arctic, visiting vital habitats rather than a continuous traverse. He invites us to protect the shores these avian travelers rely on, turning athletic effort into a call for global stewardship.

Through success-based sporting challenges, Dan has raised $75,000 since 2018 for Chesapeake Bay and Great Barrier Reef wildlife and wilderness conservation.

This has included two 12 KM crossings of the Potomac River where it spills into the Chesapeake Bay by Point Lookout, and qualifying for the 2024 world championships in duathlon in Townsville, Australia, the world's coral reef research capital.
