I will track the northbound journey of Red Knots. Over three years, I will log 10,000 cumulative miles through multisport training. In 2028, I will travel to visit specific stops along the Red Knot flyway from Chile to the Arctic. While birds travel this path, my athletic segments will take place at these specific sites rather than a continuous traverse. All routes remain subject to local tide conditions, safety needs, and essential wildlife permits.

Bahía Lomas, Chile

This southern point is a historic stronghold for wintering Red Knots. My 2028 series of challenges begins here to mirror their departure for the north. (My specific challenge: a 13.1-mile run at-location)

Lagoa do Peixe, Brazil

A vital stop for Red Knots to rest after their initial flight from the south. (My challenge here consists of a 6.2-mile swim followed by a 13.1-mile run on-site)

Shell Key, Florida

Crucial Gulf Coast habitat where Red Knots spend the winter. My swim is planned to avoid all sensitive nesting zones while following local currents and maritime safety rules. (My specific challenge: a supported 6-mile swim at-location circumnavigating the island and its coastal waters)

Assateague / Chincoteague

Key barrier islands for Red Knots during their mid-Atlantic flight. My swimming and running routes will be finalized based on active avian conservation rules. (My challenge: 6.2-mile swim + 13.1-mile run on-site)

Delaware Bay

The heart of the flyway where Red Knots gorge on crab eggs to fuel their flight. (My specific challenge: a 3.1-mile swim and 6.2-mile run on on-location to honor this critical ecological stage of their migration)

Canadian Arctic

The destination is Southampton Island, where Red Knots arrive to breed. Completion of this marathon marks the end of my 2028 site visits. (My challenge: a 26.2-mile full marathon run on-site)
